Christina Chang interviews Assistant Superintendent Particia Gartland. They talk about her recent promotion, and her thoughts on the Coquitlam school district.

One of the big initiatives is the Confucius Institute, recently designated last December, and the potential for further cultural growth. They also talk chinese students comming to Canada, and about the multicultural makeup of the school district, where there are many international students, many korean and brazilian students.

Lastly, they talk about the summer program offered by the Coquitlam school board. This program is a great way to get a great opportunity to improve English skills, especially speaking and listening. This program is also a great opportunity to try out studying in Canada before enrolling. Lastly, she mentions the teachers job action, and that it has had little effect in the classrooms. At the end of the interview, Patricia Gartland stresses the importance and advantage of being multilinual, and refers us to their motto "Guiding Global Citizens, Becoming Tomorrow's Leaders"
